I am not arguing that this particular group should be open to whomever
wants to be on it.  In my opinion, the optimal size for any working meeting
is under 10.  There definitely must be some control over who can come and
speak at the meetings.

I am, however, arguing that anyone who thinks he or she has anything to
contribute to the discussion should be allowed to electronically address
the "group".  I am aware that this could result in even more overloading of
the electronic mail boxes of the participants of the "group", so I suggest
that some way of partitioning the mail be implemented.  In particular,
there should be a mailing group devoted to the problems that an interlingua
might create.  I think that it is important that this mailing group be set
up now, so that these problems can be aired before the interlingua is a
fait accompli.  Another mailing group that would be useful to have at this
time would be one on the problems of the current interlingua proposal.

I also think that the existence of the standards effort should be made
known to the AI community at large, along with the existence of the mailing
lists.
